In its defence Apple did say it would release a tool this week, but didn’t mention when or how so sneaking it unmentioned into a major iOS update is a little sneaky for my liking. This tool isn’t even mentioned in the release notes but Apple confirmed its presence to me today. This should put you in good shape to print to the 760 from your OS X apps.Instead users will find iOS 10.2 installs battery usage tracking telemetry on all your devices without asking first. Then work your way through the other instructions in Help for locating and setting up the appropriate driver, assuming it is already present in your OS X installation or on your OS installer disks.

Click on "Finding Printers that work with OS X." That will tell you that there is, in fact, an OS X driver for your 760 - though for reasons known only to Epson, it doesn't seem to be offered as a download. Click once on the desktop to make the Finder active choose Mac Help from the Help menu click "Printing Documents" under "Top Customer Issues". The following instructions are for Panther, and the procedure may be a little different in Jaguar I don't know about that.

I've removed all the extra printer drivers I don't use from my own OS X installation, so I can't look there for one, but you may be able to find one in yours. That driver won't enable you to print from any native OS X application.īut perhaps a standard installation of OS X actually includes an OS X driver for the 760. Work in Classic, and if it does work, it installs a driver that only works in Classic, i.e., only when you're printing from a Classic application. But the installer may or may not actually The installer only runs in OS 9, so Classic has to open for the installer to open.
If that's true, and I haven't missed something, then it explains why Classic opens when you click on the driver you downloaded. No OS X driver for the Stylus 760 on Epson's web site - only drivers for OS 8 and 9. If this doesn't help, post back with details of exactly what happens when you try to run the updater: exactly what message appears, and at what stage in the proceedings. Then start up normally from your hard drive and try running the updater again. Repeat until you've gotten two successive "Appears OK" verdicts. After that's finished, start up from your original Powerbook installer disk, open Disk Utility from the Installer menu, select the hard drive in the left pane, and click Repair Disk.
Start up normally, open Disk Utility (Applications>Utilities>Disk Utility), select your hard drive in the left pane of DU, and click Repair Permissions. If it's an old, known-good copy, the problem may lie in your already-installed OS or in your hard drive directory. There's a chance that the download was corrupted in transit.
If it's a new copy, you might try downloading it again. Did you just download the OS 10.2.8 combo updater and try to run it, or did you have a saved copy of the updater that you had run successfully in the past?
